Under the direction of Baron Georges Eugène Haussmann in the 19th century, during the reign of Napoleon III and with the idea of modernizing the city of Paris, Haussmannian architecture quickly established itself as the typical architectural style of the city of Paris, featuring large elegant stone facades, decorated with numerous windows.
