Swiss Chalet

Built almost essentially out of wood (beech, spruce, oak, or pine, depending on the region), this architectural style characterized by tall roofs with a wide overhang and finely sculpted balconies is typical of the Alpine regions of Switzerland and Central Europe. Widely popularized throughout Europe, the Swiss chalet has become the typical winter holiday home.
